Short announcements and events

• Next Thursday there is a Jeffersonian discussion about science funding in federal grants. There is a signup sheet (where?) it is open to all, please RSVP! Looking for research projects that need funding.

Zoda - We have to decide what this means. Really likes that there is constantly someone volunteering to teach how to use different tools

Elan - It is excellent to volunteer oneself for tasks rather than others.

Brief Kudos

Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.

Zoda - Kudos to industrial knitting machine Jess + fairycircles. Daniel and other Daniel who did Noisebridge cafe for fun raising. Also fixed 3d printing and got some gear. Stenciled stool!

Elan - Electronics community working tidier. Leaving the space like they found it. Impressive!

Zoning, Permitting, & Improvements -- Standing Item

Status this week? Helpful broad asks to the community? NB city bureaucracy WG -- JD & Alice, among others.

An electrician was paid. A final inspection for this is TBD. It's on track. Passed deadline but there is an extension. City + NB holding pattern.

Guilds

Help others maintain equipment by joining a guild! Maintainers are excellent!

New Members/Associate Members

Spending Needs

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for. NB is liable to pay contractors for building.

From/Raised by: Christina Seeking: decision On topic: Present a lesson, project on screen to teach mechanical engineering and algorithms. present larger outline to the community at a later date.

2: [Meshtastic]

From/Raised by: Lee Seeking: outcome On topic: Scheduled to teach two classes on Meshtastic. (shows off pill-box radio enclosure). This is part of a class in the BayAnarchistFreeSchool curriculum. Dates: 2-4pm Sunday Nov 2nd - Would ideally host this at NB. Could be 15-30 ppl(?) https://bafs.noblogs.org/

3: [Reviving the Robotics Meetup]

From/Raised by: Jane Seeking: outcome/advice On topic: Resurecting a robotics meeting group. This coming week, looking for course ideas, activities, group projects. Saturday afternoons. Time negotiable. There is an FPGA working group that might have some overlap.

Do-ocratic Task Board

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
