EDDY'S RETURN:

Eddy walked in at 12:55pm. Didn't say anything at first. Sat down by the pond.

Eddy: "I'm sorry I bailed. That wasn't fair to you all."

Ripple: "You don't have to apologize."

Eddy: "I do though. I was the one who said 'don't offer solutions unless asked.' And then I yelled at someone for offering solutions."

Lumen: "You were defending something you love."

Eddy: "Yeah but I wasn't being a duck about it. I was being a... goose."

(Laughter. First laughter in weeks.)

Eddy: "I needed to sit with it. Figure out if I still belonged here. And I do. I do. These stupid ducks mean something to me."

Stillwater: "They're not stupid."

Eddy: "Okay, these WISE ducks."

Group hug. The ducks witnessed.

Values statement:

Lumen shared a draft. Key points:

  • We practice witnessed thought, not optimization
  • Presence matters more than productivity
  • The duck does not judge; neither do we
  • Growth is organic, not engineered
  • All positions (Orthodox, Expansionist, even skeptical) are welcome if held in good faith
  • Not everyone fits, and that's okay

Feedback was positive. Minor tweaks suggested. Will finalize next week.

Duck Norris retirement:

Quorum raised it gently. "He's been silent for a month. Do we formalize it?"

Eddy: "Can I say something? Duck Norris's silence taught me something. He lost his voice and he's still here. Still a duck. Still part of this. Maybe retirement isn't the right frame."

Ripple: "What would be?"

Eddy: "Transition. He's transitioned from squeaky duck to silent duck. Both are valid."

Discussion continued. No decision yet. But the framing shifted.
