Noisebridge Meeting Restructuring Proposal

Details:

• MODERATOR should designate a proponent and time budget for each discussion or consensus item. A goal should be to keep most meetings to 1 hour and for meetings to start on time.

• TIMEKEEPER will keep time and interrupt when the time limit for an item is reached. If a majority of those present believe discussion must continue time can be extended for a specified period. Otherwise the meeting shall: take action, move on, or move additional discussion outside of the meeting.

• In the interest of efficient discussion, MODERATOR shall use active moderation techniques: this can include prioritizing comments from those who have yet to be heard, limiting comment time per person, keeping discussion on topic, or preventing circular arguments and discussions.

Format:

• 1 x Meeting per month will be a full meeting including explanations of Excellence, Membership, Consensus, a financial report, etc. Noisebridge will advertise this as a place for new people to learn about the space and this night can be accompanied by tours and other activities. Discussion and consensus items may still take place if urgent or at the discretion of attendees.

• All other meetings of a month will take on an abbreviated format to handle weekly business. The focus will be on Announcements, Consensus Items, and Discussion. Example: https://pad.riseup.net/p/NNZ_rkRuJcm1pQGAugw_

On adding agenda items:

• Discussions that can be handled by a Guild or group of interested parties are encouraged to take place outside of the Weekly Meeting. Feel welcome to mention these opportunities in a brief announcement!

• Out of consideration for fellow Noisebridge Members and community, those making proposals or discussion items should post them in advance of the meeting. Urgent agenda items that cannot be delayed until the following week may be added at the meeting.
