Welcome! It's that time of the year when we hold new board elections for Noisebridge.

FAQ[edit]

Q: What does it mean to be on the board?

A: Mostly the board sits back and lets the space do its thing.

Q: What are your responsibilities (and liabilities?)

  • Be on the legal paperwork for NB. You should be covered by NB's insurance and our Directors & Officers insurance.
  • Meet once a year and make sure there is a next year's board election.
  • More nebulously: Help us to keep on a course to NOT do things that mean we could lose our lease or get into legal trouble with the city or state. (ie, know what is going on with the building code, keep a good relationship with our neighbors and landlord, don't do things in the space that violate our lease like live here or sell alcohol)

Things we need to clarify[edit]

  • How does the election work?

(This is determined differently every time but you can consult our Bylaws, past elections, and the page How to run a board election)

  • How many people to vote for, how many board members should we have?

3-5 is a good number. More is fine.

  • Who can vote? (Full Members)
  • Who is running this?
  • What are the actual legal responsibilities of the board?
  • * Meet at least once a year
  • * Make sure there is a yearly board election
  • * Represent Noisebridge when needed to local government or other general social entities (file and pay taxes, etc)

THE NEW 2023 BOARD[edit]

  • List them here
  • The board should meet and agree on officers (Secretary, Treasurer, President)

(Officers should generally be whoever is wiling to do it and who we think is not going to run off with all our money or do anything horrid; It is best to keep the same treasurer for at least 2 years if they will agree to it because it's got a bunch of overhead to add people to the bank account)
