The library WG met to discuss writing a new library app

Agenda
- Proposal by robbintt: move to a new Django-based app
- What to do with existing scanned book-db (given 50% have been thrown out since first scan)
Discussion
- Level of experience with Django - some limited experience around the table, generally all keen to learn
- Trent proposes backend with django-rest & react frontend
- Jay: any existing similar django library mgmt tools?
- Trent: worth looking into
- Trent provides an overview of the existing library.noisebridge.net webapp
- Monique: how can we handle lost/checked out books?
- Trent: in a worst case scenario for a lost book we want, can re-order
- Kate: barcode scanner for check-in/out
- Trent: UPC codes can be unreliable, print OLID stickers?
- Jay: Do we have a label printer handy?
- Trent: Not certain, but can check & source/fund otherwise
- Monique: may be able to find an existing Python app to generate labels from olid
- Trent: thoughts on whether to require this in new app?
- Jay: suggestion to delay this and begin with existing functionality
- General consensus that we can wait until later to implement
- Trent proposes system design/architecture (see attachment)

- We now have repos!
- Slack integration for most events to #library-wg (thanks to tiffany for configuring)
- Initial gitignores / code etc pushed
Next meeting
We agreed ~1 month from now - mid-June - appropriate for the next library-wg session. Date TBD.
