Excellence[edit]
Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)
Daniel: take care of others, the space, and yourself.
What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!
Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit]
Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.
Brief Kudos[edit]
Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.
Daniel: kudos to nick helping on making no food/drinks sign for sewing room
elan: J.D - continuing to work on city zoning/permitting
elle: kudos ken handing mini explosions of capacitors in sewing room.
Zoning, Permitting, & Improvements -- Standing Item[edit]
Status this week? Helpful broad asks to the community? NB city bureaucracy WG -- JD & Alice, among others.
JD: we started the electronic upgrade. some mess ups with things being wired incorrectly. the walls are good to go *claps* however we need ventillation. we did measuring to tell the engineers what we need to do. fan $400. we need stamped drawings. whole thing could be upwards of a couple thousand extra. 2nd floor breaker pannel has 3 busses. one of them set up for hot watter.
Guilds[edit]
- What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")
Elan: space is limited resource. guild takes care of community resources. start big projects through guilds
New Members/Associate Members[edit]
What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.
Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit]
Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.
Progress on moving coinbase from personal account to org account! (obtained the necassary signatures)
Judy
- Monthly revenue, expenses. Big projects. Big fundraising events. Reserves in bank.
- Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
- The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances
Spending Needs[edit]
Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.
Fundraising Update[edit]
How's it all going
Big C Consensus Items[edit]
Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items
Consensus Items [edit]
Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.
Discussion Items[edit]
Template... [num]: [topic-short][edit]
From/Raised by: Judy and community Seeking: transparency, opening ledgers On topic: finances
Judy: I know we are having financial problems. it helps if there is a place to see what comes in and goes out. the person in charge of venmo is not active now. we want to expose our finances on a site. Perhaps an accountant would help
Let's check out using GNUCash for accounting purposes
(discussion item) 1: [topic][edit]
From/Raised by: Elle Seeking: knowledge On topic: number of members and how many are paying dues.
Daniel: Tracking money comming in is always going to be an issue due to how different digital payment systems (cashapp/ Venmo/ cash etc.) but expenditures might be soable
Elan: Membership management software would be worth considering. Hard to link up membership payments to indivisuals without this software. Other hackerspaces have open source software with a portal/ associated email address to associate with a membership
Nick: We could have a formsheet for people doing paid events at Noisebridge to have documentation of single event earned income
Mark: We're trying to get new payment accounts not associated with estranged members
(discussion item) 2: [topic][edit]
From/Raised by: Nick Seeking: advice On topic: Red flags/ potential for future unexcellent behavior by Zack of All Trades
Nick: zack was joking about asking me to leave (ATL). zack suggested fake promotion. seemed unethical. last week, he said entertain me or I'll start breaking windows. worried about him wanting to blackmail graffitti artists. Evidence: explicitly told Nick he wanted to put up a sign saying "no graffiti" and blackmail the artist after getting them on camera somewhere in the city. He has now put a sign saying "no graffiti" on the Noisebridge fence.
Removed a piece by ONGOSF (local artist) from the public and put up on the wall at noisebridge, saying he looked it up and its worth "a lot of money." Messaged the artist to ask if he wanted to come get it (no responses); asked Nick to get him to come to Noisebridge and teach stencil classes
Teaching a "stencil like Banksy" class as he did would be one way to find and identify local graffiti artists if he wanted to blackmail them. None attended his class (To knowledge) WEZ: My experience with him is mostly him complaining about freeloaders and homeless people. I see you didn't fill out the conclusion part but I suggest you guys talk
Nick: I don't feel comfortable talking with him at the moment
Judy: what's his tone?
Nick: I can't tell.
Wheezy: somebody take notes
(discussion item) 3: [topic][edit]
From/Raised by: Elle Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: Yard Sale
We gonna have a yard sale on the 19th! Organize by the sewing group! Selling items related to sewing etc. People will pay 20$ to be part of the sale, then give 20% of what they make minus that 20 to NB! But will be selling stuff from the sewing room too!
Promoting on facebook, craisglist and also to various sewing and knitting groups locally
