16th anniversary party Noisebridge needs to be saved, and celebrated. Will be on the 12th, 13th or 14th, calling for all participants to share what they've done - workshops

 - 101 give a discussion or a set of slides
 - full workshop (like classathon but much smaller) teaser for a club. 1hr or whatever timeblock you can do during

- to get involved, join nb16 noisebridge channel - show everyhting nb has to offer on friday, classes on Saturday, and demos on Sunday? - sign up @ noisebridge.net/...( I missed this) - basically a science fair + party

-> what if we could keep this going? (hackapalooza prospectively in January) shooting for 30 workshops in a week put it on nb16 page after January, let's discuss this idea more - 1on1 is a shotgun blast of all the cool stuff on Friday (easily repeating) - anyone can run the slides

- let's do a YouTube channel too!

Excellence[edit]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (Give a quick, 1-3 sentence summary.) What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!

Excellence - treating other people with respect and dignity, according to the Golden rule - Going beyond the minimal requirements to make everyone happy that you were [part of their experience. To be excellent is the ultimate principle of nb. -

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.

- harassment is not tolerated at nb - if you are experiencing harassment, you can ask ANYONE to leave, quite literally. - if they don't leave, consider leaving yourself, and DEFINITELY tell someone

- If you look at the page, there is a step of "de-escalation" steps. The reason ATL is there is to give people an opportunity to cool off. It can be way safer to give people space. Step 1 is "ask to disengage". For any reason, you can say "I need to do something, can you disengage right now".. It's at the point of refusal that we define harassment, and an ATL is clearly justified. You can ALWAYS ask to disengage.

Brief Kudos[edit]

Recent examples of excellent participation, say 3, unless the passion moves you.

@DanielWebb for making the 3d printers amazing @Alex for sponsoring 4 members last week @Martin for fixing the clock @Manny, Chris for helping with A/V @Nat for great idea to get gofundme out, very successful

Why kudos?

@Derek for helping take out trash on Monday

Zoning & Permitting Standing Item[edit]

Status this week? Helpful broad asks to the community? NB city bureaucracy WG -- JD & Alice, among others.

Woodshop - JD was here earlier - inspection is all good - woodshop is close to being approved - goal for opening woodshop will be after Thanksgiving - contact InnoKen on discord if you want to help

- We'll discuss city outreach later in the meeting (fundraising)

Big C Consensus Items[edit]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

What is this? A decision that is large enough that it will change the organization materially,

None this week, expect one next week

Consensus Items [edit]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item or can be reserved for the discussion section of the meeting.

Membership - everyone here currenlty is a member - different levels of membership - someone who has been given a tour (be excellent) - associate / philanthropist membership (monthly donation, stewardship, closing & opening, get 24 hour access, ultimate place to zone in, just need a sponsor as a big M member) - Big M member (2 sponsors, one year waiting period, means you can sponsor other people, can block proposals in emergency situations "I can make sure nb never dies due to a dumb decisions") - should be redefined as an inkling to initiative - we are not a club

If you don't have a sponsor, send elle a note suggestion: let's just do the signature now - how do you identify big M members (you can ask at meetings) "philanthropist are responsible for the space, big M's are responsible for the community"

Discussion Items[edit]

It is recommended to post items for discussion ahead of time at https://pad.riseup.net/p/nbmeeting. (Check that the template for the meeting is in place already, and that last week's notes have been moved to the wiki, of course)

Item prompts should follow the format: From/Raised by: [your name here] Seeking [decision/outcome/advice/something else] On topic: [topic]

Discussion Item 1[edit]

From/Raised by: Eric Seeking help, volunteers interested in helping maintain, teach workshop in music room On topic: music room -- guild creation

Discussion Item 3[edit]

From/Raised by: Chris Seeking outcome ...? On topic: Fundraiser -- event proposal, Nov 29th,

doc shared on discord.... Kandi Corps Collective http://docs.google.com/document/d/1rnSu7Xwnk-CaSsUPyBMm39TQ3Kuva5TRT2Kh4LKQuls?edit?usp=drivesdk

respecting ask to leave, no alcohol, 29th appears to be free. Concessions at the writing event took lots of work, so we should have > 1 volunteers :)

Takeaways

  • Ken will host *ken is tentative host
  • Need to see insurance for event by Friday

tentative yes

will check in #weekly-meeting in Discord. Elle will y/n by 9pm Friday.

Discussion Item 4[edit]

From/Raised by: Alex Seeking announce & invite to join effort On topic: Gamejam to lead into fundraising

open to anyone. Tablebridge officially starts tomorrow, Wednesdays, 5-7pm, kickoff. starting a cosplay group to go with the sewing club. (batman of san jose, makes his batarangs) 7-phase jamcamp (exploration,..., prototyping, play test, progression, polish, prelaunch) invite any and all indie devs (e.g., bay area developers group) (spacebridge game?)

Discussion Item 2[edit]

From/Raised by: Elle Seeking [decision/outcome/advice/something else] On topic: Fundraising

we need to be careful about our messaging - e.g. "50k or else we close!" - $50k is a reasonable amount of what we're searching for

good news we got a $5k challenge grant! possibly got a large donation have a half a month, and are already at $27k

Note that this $50k covers accessibility, woodshop, and electrical improvments in the last year. We want to bring on more members. We're working on cultural transition, but we're doing a membership drive for people who can collaborate and do excellent things here.

is "growth gala" a better term than "membership drive"?

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
