Excellence[edit]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other.

What does that mean? Please see our page on Excellence !

  • Go above and beyond (Daniel). It is to be noted infinity is inherently excellent.
  • The standard that we try to inspire each other to. Try to do great things. Making our time and coordination and money spent together feel worthwhile, satisfying and meaningful.

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy!

Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.)

For approachable & specific guidelines see: Community Standards

It should be noted harrassment is considered unexcellent

Please note: https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Discord.

Brief Kudos[edit]

  • Kudos to mystery monday trash person
  • Nemo brought guac!
  • Jet for being the best tour guide (Jet generally considered excellent)

Guilds & WGs[edit]

  • Sewing - domestic sewing machines are always broken - expertise for fixing sewing machines lacking, we also constantly need bobbin covers
  • Treasuring - Zacchae: automating? Loren: donation portal coming along. membership portal would help ppl self-serve, find classes they want, etc. Loren is definitely looking for a potential successor

New Members/Access Members[edit]

No new members today?

Spending Needs[edit]

  • Need money for heavy duty shelving (Naomi reiterating from last meeting so it's well-known) -- will cost between $1200 and $2000 -- she will purchase herself and ask for reimbursement real real soon (see discussion below).

Fundraising Update[edit]

Consensus Items[edit]

Discussion Items[edit]

1: Wheezy ATL[edit]

On topic: Wheezy ATL
From/Raised by: Wheezy
Seeking: Advice

Wheezy: I'm back, i wanted to make sure i'm not in a grey zone here... Wants to have discussion about person who asked him to leave. Seeking advice.

Weezy: I love this and appreciate friends that wanted me here. Seeking advice on what I should do moving forward

Naomi: Move to have this discussion in a smaller circle

Loren: Historically banning only happens at single bad incidents.

Weezy: Does anyone who does know about why i was asked to leave believe it was fair or not

  • Kavia asks how ATL works*

Loren: we try to be anarchic. implementing rule systems is an invitation to fuzz the rules. we have a mission to host education, excellent hacking on projects. we have a community...

(several ppl on Jitsi comment that this process has never been clear or explainable)

(Naomi again pushes to close this topic and assemble the "right" group for a separate conversation out of fairness to ppl w/o any context, i.e. most ppl at the mtg right now)

2: Donation alerts display[edit]

On topic: Donation alerts display
From/Raised by: Daniel (Web)
Seeking: Money and attention
  • Daniel Demos how to donate money. Donates 11 dollars. someone asks y no $111? Naomi questions commitment to sparkle motion. Hackers across the room grab their phones to join in a spontaneous donation frenzy*

NOISEBRIDGE IS SAVED!

3: SHELVING[edit]

On topic: SHELVING
From/Raised by: Naomi
Seeking: concrete plans (typo? should be wood plans)

What we're gonna need to do is buy lumbar within the next week.

Josh: Why are we using wood and not standard steel racking?

Chris (blitz): One reason is sizing. Another is cost. Wood is more flexible. Palette racking comes in standard sizing. We are retricted a bit by the blocking which is already in place.

Naomi: Scoping question. Should we just do 1 rack of shelves, get most of the stuff out of the way, and do the rest later?

Chris (blitz): Valid question, maybe? ALso might be just as easy to get all the materials for all 3.

Elan: To destress, as a backup plan can we just move shit if we really need to?

Naomi: Yes absolutely.

Sounds like this Saturday might be a good day to do it.

Post-meeting update: Chris (blitz) finds a supplier of wire pallet shelves -- $1000 for 9 of them (all 3 racks). Naomi agrees to receive them Thursday or Friday. Progress!

4: Laminar Flow Bench[edit]

On topic: Laminar Flow Bench
From/Raised by: Daniel (not web)
Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?]

Daniel considering donating a laminar flow bench. Questions about logistics of doing it. 10cm^3 is the CubeSat but we need maybe more space around it for air flow.

Cleanliness of area is important for this equipment

Josh suggests maybe we can build a box ourselves to contain this.

Elan: Sounds cool, just get more clear on dimensions + requirements

5: SSBM[edit]

On topic: SSBM
From/Raised by: Nemo
Seeking: Decision + advice

Can we host a smash bros tournament here? Multiple CRTs involved. Needs bigger space than gaming room. Maybe 4-6 CRTs. Maybe 10-20 people. Maybe a friday night thing. Don't have a specific date, but recommend after March 10th.

Naomi: link up w/ LX on Discord, he'll be stoked to help

Loren: find a sponsor, maybe even promote it via our NB socials

LX: let's expand the GDC party here at NB using this event

March 11th is our listed GDC event night already, we could do smash bros tournament there with people attending GDC

  • Location could be main hackitorium using projectors to make the CRT visuals visible to more people and have the biggest area.

6: San Francisco Federal Credit Union[edit]

On topic: San Francisco Federal Credit Union
From/Raised by: Elan
Seeking: Approval of language

7: an Email to Secretary - Collab w/ a school[edit]

On topic: an Email to Secretary - Collab w/ a school

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you. ```

Do-ocratic Task Board[edit]

Participation also means doing stuff to contribute to the space. Propose new tasks or pick some tasks from Github, from what needs to be done around you, or whatever, and see if someone will sign up to work on that task. Anyone can sign up and it's a great way to show you are contributing!
