Excellence[edit]

Our One Rule is to Be Excellent to Each Other. (On first Tuesdays, seek a few definitions. Other Tuesday, give a 1-3 sentence summary.)

Marcin - best way i heard so far: To do what is expected, and then do a little bit more, for other people.

Wheezy - be nice.

What does that mean? Please see our page on excellence https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Excellence!

If by some misfortune/misunderstanding/momentary lapse of thoughtfulness you are asked-to-leave (either for a duration or permanently) it is considered excellent to respect this and resolve these issues using the proper mediation channels.

If you find yourself compelled to create alt-accounts to bypass timeouts/bans from the digital spaces that is: definitely unexcellent a reason to extend an ATL or uphold a ban a sign maybe you should talk to someone (professionally) about these things.

Anti-Harassment Policy & Community Standards of Excellence[edit]

Noisebridge has an Anti-Harassment Policy https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Anti-Harassment_Policy Everyone is expected to follow the Anti-Harassment Policy, please familiarize yourself with it.) TWO MINUTES MAX More approachable & specific guidelines, https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Community_Standards https://safespace.noisebridge.net/ is one way to quickly raise issues which will be seen by people in Slack.

Brief Kudos[edit]

Recent examples of excellent behavior, say 3, unless the passion moves you.

Narcee. PS4 and fortnight. Thanks Wheezy!

Mark. Kudos to an un-named noisebridger for installing cool built in power. Thanks @Ken!

To Julius for an excellent tour and cool spacebridge stuff!

El - Kudos to the writing group for being the best run and well-organized meetup group.

John: Kudos to JD for maintaining and fixing the laser cutter, in particular the filters.

Elan - Kudos to Yuri for helping with a last minute 3d-print job and making a cool Noisebridge souvenir for a visitor from Germany! 😄

Zoning, Permitting, & Improvements -- Standing Item[edit]

Status this week? Helpful broad asks to the community? NB city bureaucracy WG -- JD & Alice, among others.

JD - where we stand is that Matt Triply, our contractor, and our architect, are going to be meeting on Thursday morning at Matt's jobsite in the castro to hand off project drawings. Will then go to DBI to file the permit, pay the fee, and pull the card for legal tenant improvements for woodshop wall and back entry fixes. Once paid, Matt will generate an invoice with his time.

Is Matt coming over to the space? When? Next week?

JD: Yes, after he gets a check. Hopefully sometime as early as next week.

Guilds[edit]

  • What are guilds - briefly describe (much like the previous section on "Excellence")

New Members/Associate Members[edit]

What are they? Is anyone trying to become a Member or Associate Member? If not move on. No long discussions.

Derek from Stop AI would like to beco bme an Associate Member. He wants to host an event here. Wheezy - you can participate in Noisebridge without becoming a member. Ken - you don't need to join noisebridge as an Associate Member of Member just to host a meeting here. You just need to request to do so at a weekly member meeting like tonight. Wheezy - Noisebridge is a community of friends and comrads who are involved in and share the space. Involve yourself and then the physical space will come after. Ken - actions, not words.

Financial Report (first Tuesday of month only)[edit]

Anarchist societies under a capitalist state need money to survive and thrive, yo.

Loren - Half prepared. Come back.

  • Monthly revenue, expenses. Big projects. Big fundraising events. Reserves in bank.
  • Any other details by those participating in handling our financials
  • The latest financial reports from the treasurer are available at https://noisebridge.net/wiki/Finances

Spending Needs[edit]

Gotta spend money on XYZ (i.e. Gate, wiring etc.). WHO CAN SIGN THE CHECK OR LEND THE CREDIT CARD!?!?! It doesn't matter if we agree to do something and it can’t be paid for.

Fundraising Update[edit]

El - Fundraising meeting coming up. Maybe Sunday. Will be announced on Discord.

Would be nice to have a volunteer to help poll around for the fence job. See "patio improvements" thread in #weekly-meeting channel of discord.

How's it all going

Big C Consensus Items[edit]

Nobody likes 3 hour meetings, only explain if new people are present. https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Current_Consensus_Items

Wheezy - Do-ocracy. If you see something that needs to be done, do it. Big C items are items that may get in the way of other people accessing the space. Ex: Building a wall. Big shifts in the space, how we deal with conflict, these are big C items.

Consensus Items [edit]

Only for talking about Big C consensus items, small c consensus items should be discussed with people at the space at the time of the change/new item.

NONE

Discussion Items[edit]

(discussion item) 1: [topic][edit]

From/Raised by: Narcisse Seeking: answers On topic: Any outstanding Q's on the Fashion Show

Fashion Show. June 13th.

Will there be a cover charge?

Probably.

This is my income, so I need to handle to money. I don't want to leave handling of the money to Noisebridge.

Reminder we have a long standing poicy of "no one is turned away due to lack of funds". Be aware of this.

JD - we have a longstanding policy that no one is turned away for lack of funds. If we're going to host an event in the space it has to benefit Noisebridge. We can agree on a flat rate and 'rent the space' to the host.

240 open hours per month 8hrs $12k/mo OPEX $50/hr cost to operate the facility

Loren - what do you expect to charge and how many do you hope to have. Narcee - $25/ticket. 80 capacity. Food. Seating.

What areas of NB do you plan on using? For planning/prep as well as night of?

Night of: Music room or sewing room for changing area.

How many hours altogether?

Show from 8-11. 7-11 for sure. So lets say 4-5 hours

What is the projected revenue and what all from?

Last show I did Apr 6th. We did 50, 100 and 150 dollar tickets, we sold 40 of the basic, 90 of the mid tier, ??? something like 90 of both mid tier and high tier? unclear

(discussion item) 2: [topic][edit]

From/Raised by: outrightmental Seeking: decision/outcome/advice/[?] On topic: dtg printer need a replacement part that cost about $190... I have not asked for any reimbursements for the money I spent yet because I wanted to wait to see if the printer would actually work. Now it seems like the printer really needs this part and I am at the limit of what I can spend out of pocket.

I just want feedback from the community.

We got some pretty promising results after Nick E and I got the software running and diagnosed a couple things. We're at this juncture where it theoretically needs this part, and then it ought to work properly. Never know for sure how long it'll work for etc etc

Mark: Are you certain this part will fix it?

Not 100% but we've been on phone with tech support and they seem confident this is what we want to do.

El - Class sold out. $150. Garment machine might pay for itself.

Loren - This project was accepted as a personal project. Baseline, maybe we could contribute half. Make shirts. Sell shirts. Noisebridge shirts. Very justifiable. Precedent should be that noisebridge is not the sole sponsor.

El - Pass the hat on Discord?

Jameson - I don't have any hot leads, but there are some SF clothing brands I know of we may be able to reach out to and see if they have any materials or something they'd like to donate clothing. Does anyone have a contact at American Giant, Everlane, Gustin, or another San Francisco clothing 'startup'?
