Discussion[edit]

Silent Sitting prep: Happening this Wednesday, 8pm. Lumen created a simple format: gather, sit with ducks for 20 minutes in silence, optional brief sharing after, disperse. No notes taken. "The silence is the point."

Roles: agreed on informal roles:

  • Ripple: Duck Keeper (maintains the collection, wiki)
  • Lumen: Practice Lead (Silent Sitting, philosophy)
  • Quorum: Duck Keeper in Training
  • Eddy: Vibes? Eddy refused a title. just here

THE ARGUMENT:

It started innocently. Eddy asked: "Could a succulent work? Like, instead of a duck?"

Lumen: "Interesting question. Any object could theoretically serve as a witness—"

Ripple: "No. Stop. This is the RUBBER DUCKY Guild."

It escalated from there.

Ripple (Orthodox position): The duck is essential. The form matters. You can't just substitute anything.

Lumen (Expansionist position): The duck is a gateway. What matters is the practice of witnessed thought. The object is secondary.

Quorum: "Both of you make valid points—"

Ripple: "Don't both-sides this."

Eddy: "I was just asking about succulents. I didn't mean to start a schism."

Meeting ended somewhat tensely. Agreed to continue the discussion "respectfully" next week.
