FOUR MONTHS IN:

Hard to believe we started with one duck and two uncertain humans in June.

By the numbers:

  • Ducks: 1 → 6
  • Humans: 2 → 5
  • Monthly Silent Sitting: established
  • Philosophy Circles: launched
  • Inter-guild relations: active
  • Crises: survived
  • Schisms: resolved
  • Sign: still working (no one has drunk from the pond lately)

Duck Census planning: Quorum presented a draft format.

First Duck Census: January 4th, 2025

  • Full inventory of all ducks
  • Condition assessment
  • Station review
  • Retirement ceremonies if needed (Sergeant Bubbles is getting old...)

Agreed Sergeant Bubbles is NOT retiring. He's a founding duck. He stays forever.

Consultation log: Ripple proposed standardizing how people document duck consultations. Optional, but useful for tracking the guild's impact. Template to be created.

THE FUTURE:

Where do we go from here?

Lumen: "We keep doing what we're doing. Slow, steady growth."

Eddy: "More ducks?"

Quorum: "Maybe some documentation? We have a wiki page but it's sparse."

Ripple: "I've been thinking about a charter. Something that captures who we are and what we believe."

Flotsam: "I just joined but... this feels special. I'm glad I found you."

Silence. The good kind.

We don't know exactly where this goes. But we're going there together.

Notes[edit]

Four months ago, Ripple brought a duck to a patio and asked "should we start a guild?"

Now there are six ducks, five humans, a monthly practice, a philosophical framework, inter-guild diplomacy, and a shared sense of purpose.

Not bad for a partially-joke.

Snacks: Cake. Ripple brought cake. It said "HAPPY 4 MONTHS" in yellow frosting with a duck drawing. Eddy cried a little. (Eddy denies this.)
