Discussion[edit]
đ§ KEN AND THE POOL:
Two weeks of mystery. Two weeks of suspicion. The camera debate. The accusations (unspoken but felt). The stress.
Ken showed up today. No announcement. Just appeared at the patio with a patch kit and a headlamp, even though it was 1pm.
Quorum: "Ken! You came."
Ken nodded. Knelt by the pool. Emptied it carefully into buckets (ducks temporarily relocated to a mixing bowl). Flipped it over.
Everyone gathered. Watching.
Ken pointed to the base. A tearâlonger than Quorum had seen. Spreading from the impact point where the Synthwave cart hit.
Ken: "Here's your problem. Slow leak. Gets worse over time. Especially with sun exposure."
Flotsam: "So... it wasn't people?"
Ken: (not looking up, already applying adhesive) "Nope. Just physics."
Ripple: "Oh god. We've beenâ"
Lumen: "We almost put up cameras."
Ken: "Cameras?" (brief pause in his work) "For a duck pool?"
Eddy: "It's a long story."
Ken didn't ask for the story. He finished the repair. Applied a second patch for reinforcement. Checked the seams. Flipped the pool back over. Refilled it from the hose. Tested.
Ken: "Should hold now. Check it in a week. If it drops, there's another leak. But I don't think so."
He started packing up.
Ripple: "Ken. Thank you. Seriously. You have no ideaâ"
Ken stood. Looked at the ducks, now back in the pool, floating peacefully.
Ken: "Good ducks."
And then he was gone. Back inside. Fixing something else, probably.
APOLOGIES AND RELIEF:
Long exhale from everyone.
Flotsam: "I'm sorry I pushed so hard on the camera thing."
Lumen: "I'm sorry I got defensive about it."
Ripple: "I'm sorry I suspected random Noisebridgers of being chronic duck-water drinkers."
Eddy: "I'm sorry I made that 'very hydrated person' joke. It was mean-spirited."
Quorum: "I'm sorry I didn't push harder to check the leak theory earlier. I saw the tear weeks ago."
Tidepool: "I didn't do anything wrong but I'm also sorry. Solidarity."
Moment of group reflection. The ducks floated. The sun was warm. The pool was fixed.
Lumen: "We let this stress us. We forgot to be duck-like."
Ripple: "We did. But we came through it. Nobody actually put up cameras. Nobody quit. We just... got tense. And now we're not."
Eddy: "Ken is duck-like. Few words. Fixes things. Doesn't judge."
Quorum: "Should we invite him to Silent Sitting?"
Ripple: "Let's not overwhelm him. But... yeah. Maybe sometime."
The pool crisis was over. The guild had survived its first summer mystery.
CCC Cologne:
Email from Klaus. Quietscheenten-Gilde update:
- Now 4 members, 3 ducks
- Monthly Silent Sitting established
- Planning to host "regional duck meetup" in fall
International network growing.
Slow season:
Ripple: "How's everyone doing with summer pace?"
General consensus: good. Needed rest after anniversary sprint. Attendance lower but quality high. Silent Sittings steady at 8-10.
Stillwater: "I like the quiet. It's more duck-like."
Quactions[edit]
- [x] Pool fixed (KEN)
- [ ] Respond to Klaus with encouragement
Notes[edit]
